Berkeley National Laboratory and sponsored by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, this site is
designed to help you find the best ways to save energy in your home.
Enter you ZIP code, fill out a series of forms, and the program will
calculate your estimated annual energy bill.
ENERGY STAR® - is a voluntary partnership among
the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
product manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers. You can get
information about energy efficient appliances, office equipment, heating
and cooling equipment, home electronics, houses, windows, light
fixtures, roof products, insulation and more.

El Paso Solar Energy Association - EPSEA - A
comprehensive solar energy and energy efficiency site with information
about adobe homes, thermal mass, passive solar design, building
orientation, straw bale construction, solar pool heating, solar cooking
and food drying, and photovoltaics.

Blow-In-Blanket Contractors Association - BIBCA
- This trade group represents contractors who install the
Blow-In-Blanket System® (BIBS) developed by
Ark-Seal. Fiberglass insulation,
mixed with a special binder is blown into wall, ceiling, and/or floor
cavities behind netting applied to the face of the members. It is
considerably more expensive than standard batt insulation, but does a
very good job of filling voids and gaps and supposedly provides the
"highest effective R-values attainable today."

roofing, siding, windows,
housewrap, and more.

CertainTeed Corporation - a building products
company that manufactures fiberglass insulation.

GreenStone - a Louisiana-Pacific company, which
manufactures cellulose insulation for the residential, multi-family,
light commercial and agricultural construction markets. Their major
products are Cocoon, which is sold through insulation contractors, and NatureGuard, which is sold through retail stores. Their cellulose
insulation products are made from 100% recycled paper products and
treated with boron-based chemicals to make them fire retardant.
